Ernst Hansch Construction Ltd. was the successful bidder for the Conway Street Outfall Gate Chamber project.

As well as the rehabilitation of the existing structure, the City of Winnipeg required better control of storm water run off for this area. The project included the installation of 35 ft deep shoring (H-piles, timber and lagging), prefabricated form walls, an extensive rebar layout and the installation of a cast iron gate and operating components.

One of the challenges of this project was working so deep below the grade. As the general contractor, Ernst Hansch Construction Ltd. was responsible for all shoring requirements, including safety and access in and out of the chamber area while placing equipment in excess of 3,000 lbs into the chamber.
